Transitioning from summer to fall clothing can be tricky - you’re sick of your denim shorts but early fall is still too warm to whip out your down jacket. Not to mention it’s that time of year where you look in your closet and think “Hmm, is this in or out?” Before re-introducing your winter wear, read on for tricks on a seamless changeover to your fall wardrobe:

  • Blend the Seasons: Rather than boxing up my summer pieces, I like to try to make them last as long as I can into fall (or all year!). For example, don’t be afraid to pair sweaters with shorts or open-toed booties with pants and jackets. Scroll for some of my favorite in-between season outfit combos.

  • Break the Rules: We all know the age-old rule against wearing white after Labor Day - but I’m a proponent of sprinkling a little white into your fall wardrobe here and there. Extend the life of your white pieces by pairing them with items that give your look a fall feel. See a few of my favorite ways to wear white this fall below.

  • Layer Your Looks: Layering a light jacket over summery tanks and dresses is practical for cool mornings and evenings, while completely changing the look of a once-summer outfit for fall. See some of my favorite transitional jackets and sweaters below.
